No. Maryland obtained direct access legislation allowing patients to go directly to a licensed physical therapist without a physician referrals. While state law allows direct access, some insurers may have additional requirements. To find out if your insurance company requires a referral for physical therapy simply contact their customer service department. Direct access to a physical therapist will allow you to be treated earlier, resulting in a quicker recovery and return to your normal activities.

Polaris Physiotherapy provides the highest level of comprehensive and client-centered physical therapy. Often, insurance companies can dictate the terms of how those services are provided. We believe that our clients deserve the highest quality of care, and that you shouldn’t be limited by the insurance you have. Therefore, we are not paneled with your insurance directly, however, we can provide receipts with appropriate codes for your insurance provider to reimburse you for any services that you have received.

You can expect to be heard by the expert. The initial evaluation is 55 minutes. Together, a plan to achieve your goals will be constructed. A movement assessment will be performed to establish baseline data. Treatment is to be conducted, given enough remaining time, based on what the therapist finds.

Loose clothing or clothing that allows for access to the affected area(s) is preferred. This allows the therapist to deliver services efficiently and effectively. 

Payment is due at the time of service.

All major credit, HSA and FSA cards are accepted forms of payment. Cards are securely kept on file and are not charged until after the appointment.

Cash or check are also acceptable forms of payment.

Twenty-four (24) hours notice is required should you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Otherwise, a cancellation fee of 100% of the cost of the session will be assessed. No exceptions.
